OrthTeam’s Dr Jim Kerss appointed as Head of Sports Medicine at UK Sports Institute

One of OrthTeam’s Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultants, Dr Jim Kerrs, has been appointed as the Head of Sports Medicine at the UK Sports Institute.

As part of this role, Dr Kerss leads a team of expert Sports Physicians providing healthcare to Great Britain’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes. 

Dr Kerss has extensive experience in delivering medical care to sporting organisations and clubs, with his previous positions including  from 2020 - 2024, Chief Medical Officer role at England Netball from 2016-2022, also previously British Para-Swimming and England Squash. He has also worked as a team doctor in Premiership football, professional rugby league and rugby union.

Dr Kerss holds clinics twice a week at the OrthTeam Centre where he sees patients presenting with all types of musculoskeletal and sports injury, but particularly specialises in bone stress, ligament, muscle, meniscal injuries, tendon, back and joint pain. He also has a special interest in sports related concussion, and consults with sportspeople following acute concussive events to guide them through rehabilitation, and also those with persisting concussive symptoms, and is also a lead for the OrthTeam Centre’s Concussion Clinic.
