Tests and scans

At the OrthTeam Centre, we offer a comprehensive range of advanced imaging and diagnostic services, delivered in a modern, purpose-built environment. Our facilities are designed to deliver fast access to high-quality investigations, expert diagnostic reporting, and a seamless patient journey.

With 12 consultation and examination rooms, four specialist reporting rooms, and close integration with Spire Manchester Hospital located next door, we aim to ensure diagnostics are efficient, accurate and closely aligned to your clinical care.

MRI scan (3T MRI)

At the OrthTeam Centre, we provide 3‑Tesla (3T) MRI scanning, one of the most advanced MRI technologies available.

MRI uses powerful magnets and radio waves to produce highly detailed, three‑dimensional images of the inside of the body. It is suitable for imaging almost every part of the body, including bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, blood vessels, brain and spinal cord.

Our 3T MRI scanner offers:

  • Shorter examination times
  • Exceptional image clarity and high‑resolution detail
  • Improved diagnosis of complex musculoskeletal and soft‑tissue conditions
  • 48-hour turnaround for MRI results

MRI scans are commonly used to diagnose injuries, assess ongoing symptoms and monitor recovery.

X‑ray

We offer a digital X‑ray service at the OrthTeam Centre, providing high-quality imaging to assess bone and joint conditions.

X‑rays use a small dose of ionising radiation to produce images of bones and joints and are commonly used to:

  • Detect fractures or stress injuries
  • Assess joint damage, wear or tear and degeneration
  • Identify signs of inflammation or infection

Digital imaging allows rapid image acquisition and efficient reporting, helping to speed up diagnosis and next steps in your care pathway.

Ultrasound

The OrthTeam Centre has four dedicated ultrasound rooms, supporting both diagnostic imaging and guided procedures.

Ultrasound uses high‑frequency sound waves to create real‑time images of soft tissues. It is particularly useful for:

  • Diagnosing muscle, tendon and ligament injuries
  • Identifying fluid, swelling or bleeding in joints and soft tissues
  • Assessing dynamic movement during examination

Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging technique that does not use radiation.

Fluoroscopy and image‑guided injections

We have a dedicated fluoroscopy room providing precise image‑guided injections.

Fluoroscopy uses continuous X‑ray guidance to ensure medication is injected accurately into the affected joint or area. These injections may:

  • Help diagnose the source of pain
  • Reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms
  • Support recovery alongside rehabilitation or other treatments

Image-guided injections are designed to help deliver treatment precisely to the affected area.

CT scan (via Spire Manchester Hospital)

CT scans are performed at Spire Manchester Hospital, conveniently located on the same site as the OrthTeam Centre.

A CT (computerised tomography) scan uses specialised X‑ray equipment and computer technology to produce detailed cross‑sectional images of the body. CT scans may be used to:

  • Investigate complex bone or joint conditions
  • Identify inflammation, disease or injury
  • Support surgical planning or ongoing monitoring

Results are closely integrated into your OrthTeam Centre care pathway, ensuring continuity and specialist oversight.

We work with Spire Manchester

Working with Spire Manchester Hospital located right next door, patients can easily access further treatment or surgical services when required, ensuring continuity of care throughout their journey.
