I have been a Consultant Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatologist at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for 13 years, and then at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for a further 14 years looking after the full range of conditions and problems that children and young people have. I have had an academic career and have authored and co-authored over 145 papers, and have written 11 Chapters in Medical Textbooks.
I have special interests in childhood arthritis, scleroderma and morphea in childhood, as well as in autoimmune inflammatory disorders where joint pain or arthritis can also occur. Making a diagnosis or ruling out serious disorders in complicated presentations is something I get many referrals for. I also see patients up to the age of 23 with chronic pain, hypermobility, chronic fatigue features as well as rare conditions that are prone elusive to pin point.
I have a really holistic approach to health, and have many patients who are struggling with complicated special needs that need a whole person view of the situation.
Qualifications
I have also been awarded as both Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (FRCPCH).
