OrthTeam's Dr John Rogers selected as Team Doctor for British Athletics at Paris Olympics

Sport and Exercise Medicine Consultant, Dr John Rogers, has been appointed as team doctor for British Athletics at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Dr Rogers will be assisting the team from the trials stage in Manchester and will then head to the altitude pre-camp mid-July, and then move onto France for the Team GB holding camp towards the end of July. He will then accompany the athletes to the Olympic village, and provide stadium cover from when athletics schedule starts at the beginning of August. 

He will also be covering the men's and women's Olympic marathons. This will involve providing medical and musculoskeletal (MSK) care to between 70 and 80 track and field athletes during this time.

Dr Rogers has significant experience in delivering medical care at sporting events across the globe and was the Elite Athlete doctor for the 2024 London Marathon for second year running. His other previous roles include Chief Medical Officer to British Triathlon, Institute Medical Officer to British Athletics and Chief Medical Officer to Team GB at Youth Olympic Games. He also used to compete for Sale Harriers Manchester as a middle distance runner and won Northern Ireland senior titles at 800 and 1,500 metres.
